A 15-year-old high school student has died after they were ejected from a car after it crashed into a utility pole late Saturday night in Uxbridge, Massachusetts.
Uxbridge police said in a Facebook post at 11:21 p.m. Saturday that the 680 block of Chocolog Road would be closed for an extended amount of time due to a serious motor vehicle crash.

In an update Sunday morning, they confirmed that emergency crews responded to a single-vehicle crash where a Ford Focus with three people inside had struck a utility pole and left the roadway. They said one occupant, a 15-year-old student at Uxbridge High School, was ejected and later pronounced dead at Rhode Island Hospital.
No details were released on whether the other two people in the car were injured.
The student who was killed was identified Wednesday by the Worcester County District Attorney's Office as Sophia Gardner, of Uxbridge. The names of the others in the vehicle have not been released by police.
The crash remains under investigation, and police said they will provide additional information "when it is appropriate." Anyone who witnessed the crash is being asked to contact the Uxbridge Police Department at 508-278-7755.

"It is with profound sadness that I share that our school community has lost a student at Uxbridge High School following a single-vehicle crash on Saturday evening," School Superintendent Dave Ljungberg said. "As shared in the Uxbridge Police Department's public press release, the student's identity is not being released at this time out of respect for the family's privacy. We ask that our community extend that same respect and care to the family during this incredibly difficult time."
"Our district crisis response team has been activated, and we are preparing to support students and staff when school opens on Monday morning. Counselors and support staff will be available at Uxbridge High School, and support will continue for as long as it is needed...
